Reviews

Inconsistent number printing

"My kids really love this product and I do too, however, I am disappointed with some of the printing on the blocks. Not all numbers are as visible as others and I feel for the price point, it should all be consistent."

love so much

"This is such a great addition for our homeschool. The kids love the counting numbers!"

Beth J. (5/5)

another Grimm's masterpiece

"I purchased the Grimm's Counting with Colors Wooden Number Chart for my 3. 5 -year-old granddaughter who attends a Montessori school. She sees the older children in her class doing activities with a similar wooden chart and voiced that she aspires to learn about it as well. When I presented it to her, she naturally sorted the tiles by color. We also placed the numbers, 1-40 in the tray and will work our way eventually up to 100. The tiles have beautifully colored hues and there is room in each row to comfortably put them in place. I think a pairing of this counting chart with a Montessori numbers tray will help her better understand preliminary addition and subtraction operations with numbers 1-10. I see this counting chart expanding and growing along with my granddaughter's math prowess and computation skills."

Beautifully made

"I got this for my 4 year old knowing it was a little early. He loves the colors and playing with them like little mini blocks. As he gets older I plan to talk more about numbers. I do wish the numbers were more clearly written and easier to read. It’s very light."

Ashley P. (5/5)

Disappointed in the quality

"We have several Grimm’s toys and have enjoyed the longevity and quality of the craftsman. Thus, when I ordered the counting chart, I was very disappointed to find that several of the numbers are so faint that they can barely be distinguished (much less by a child just learning numeracy). The numbers are written with what appears to be a gold permanent marker or perhaps a paint pen, and on the particular unit I received it appears the marker had run out of ink and yet the artist kept on writing. I can go over the numbers with a similar pen that I’ll need to purchase, but given the price and the quality I’ve come to expect from Grimm’s, I’m disappointed. I understand that each toy is handmade and that variance is to be expected, but in this case I would posit that reasonable variation would be difference in handwriting or spacing, for example, and not decreased visibility of the numbers. Barely legible defeats the purpose of the toy."

Very faint writing

"This is the first Grimm’s product that I have been disappointed in regarding quality. Several of the tiles are very faint, as though the marker they used to write the numbers on was running out of ink. For the price, I would expect every single number to look vibrant and visible. I wish that Grimm’s would etch the numbers in with a wood burner, perhaps. I bought this knowing the numbers are written in marker, but I wasn’t expecting such faint writing."

Hannah C. (3/5)

Disappointed

"The numbers are barely visible. It appears they were running out of ink or paint for some time before writing the numbers. Defeats the entire purpose."

Elizabeth (2/5)

Beautiful

"A beautiful new learning piece to add to our homeschool shelf."

Kaitlin C. (5/5)

"Wonderfully made and perfect for our homeschooling journey. We will use this will the math lessons. It was a surprise for my daughter this year."

Q&A

I read one review that said these are tiles, which I’m not bothered by. But, I have a 3yo and a 1.5yo and I’m thinking to buy this as a numbers introduction for my 3yo (I’m sure my little one will be all over it as well). Would you say it’s a bit early to introduce this material at 3?
This set of 200 tiles does pose a chocking hazard for children under 3 and is recommended for school age children to explore early math concepts and arithmetic. You may want to consider [Waldorf Number Cards](https://www.bellalunatoys.mom/products/waldorf-math-number-cards) to introduce numbers to younger children.
Can the tiles be arranged so that the numbers are simply in consecutive order? Specifically, are there tiles for all of the numbers 1-100?
Yes, the first two photos show the two layers of tiles. One complete set of 1-100 is included along with duplicate tiles and 30 arithmetic symbols for endless math fun and learning! This could also be paired with [Stepped Counting Blocks](https://www.bellalunatoys.mom/products/grimms-stepped-counting-blocks) as visual and spatial support for learning math and counting.
